Charter of ADIKIA
Version of January 30, 2024.
ADIKIA, hereinafter the Organization, has the following objectives:
- Inform professionals and the public about the current state of scientific knowledge concerning medical diagnoses of child abuse in infants, about their differential diagnoses, and about the importance of making the most reliable distinction possible between the two.
- Provide spaces for dialogue and exchange for parents, childminders, and families confronted with such diagnoses, with the aim of offering mutual moral and psychological support, and allow families who wish to do so to share their stories, while respecting their privacy, intimacy, and the laws in force.
- Promote the evolution of diagnostic protocols, reporting criteria, judicial procedures, legislation, and professional practices, with the goal of improving respect for all rights of the Child and human rights in the decisions and procedures undertaken in these situations, while respecting the indispensable needs of child protection.
This Ethical Charter defines the values and guiding principles to which the Organization and its Members adhere, and which must be respected in the activities of the Organization.
Compliance with legislation
- It is the responsibility of every person joining the Organization to fully know and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- The Organization does not tolerate any form of conspiracy theories and guarantees the factual, scientific, and verifiable nature of all information disseminated in its communications.
- Members must strictly comply with their legal obligations under penalty of prosecution (e.g., no-contact orders between spouses, strict confidentiality of medical and criminal records).
Quality of information provided
- The Organization does not provide criminal defense and cannot substitute for the legal advice of specialized lawyers.
- The Organization does not provide medical diagnosis and cannot substitute for the medical advice of healthcare professionals.
- The Organization strives to ensure the accuracy and updating of information provided. However, this information is given for informational purposes only and in no case constitutes professional medical or legal advice. The Organization cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or relevance of the information and declines all responsibility for possible errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.
- Where possible, the Organization endeavors to indicate sources and references of all information provided.
- Information and advice offered to families by Members, Volunteers, or Board Members of the Organization are given on an individual basis and do not bind the Organization in any way.
Rejection of all forms of violence against children
- The Organization firmly condemns all forms of abuse and violence, especially against children.
- The Organization shall not be used to cover for individuals responsible for acts of abuse or violence of any kind.
- Members declare on their honor that they have not committed acts of abuse or violence. Perpetrators of such offenses are not admitted to the Organization.
Recognition of the principle of child protection
- The Organization recognizes child protection as a fundamental principle of the rule of law and fully recognizes the rights of the child. Any challenge to the principle of child protection will not be tolerated or promoted within the Organization.
- In its advocacy role, the Organization supports state actions in favor of child protection and advises on improving the care of children, their families, and their guardians.
Respect for people and non-discrimination principle
- All forms of discrimination, violence, or harassment are prohibited. The Organization does not endorse, encourage, or accept any discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, or any offensive, violent, or discriminatory physical, verbal, sexual, or psychological behavior.
Communication with the public, authorities, media, and on social networks
- Any external communication (written or oral) made on behalf of the Organization or mentioning it must comply with legal and regulatory obligations and be approved by the Board.
- To ensure the coherence and accuracy of communications, only Members specifically authorized by the Organization’s President may make public statements (to the media and authorities, on social networks, in various publications) and respond to information requests.
- Members are strictly prohibited from creating pages, accounts, or any material in the name of the Organization on the Internet, especially on social networks; from publishing content; from using the Organization’s symbols (signature, logo); and from speaking on behalf of the Organization without express authorization from the President.
- Confidential information shared within the Organization must remain confidential, unless it has been publicly disseminated with the authorization of the President.
- Families who wish may submit stories to the Organization for publication. The Board reviews, selects, edits, and publishes stories after the family has signed a final agreement.
Compliance with the Charter
Any person joining the Organization undertakes to:
- Respect the values and guiding principles of the Organization as stated above;
- Adopt a caring, non-violent communication free of any form of discrimination;
- Use appropriate language, respect others’ ideas and speaking time, refrain from interrupting participants, and maintain a calm tone in all internal and external exchange spaces;
- Refrain from any ideological or religious proselytism or conspiracy theories;
- Refrain from any action that could harm the image, credibility, or reputation of the Organization on any medium;
- Comply with applicable laws.
Any person found to be in violation of this Charter will be removed from the Organization and excluded from discussion spaces. They will no longer be able to join the Organization or re-enter discussion spaces, unless the removal is lifted by the Board and notified in writing. Legal action may be taken against individuals whose behavior violates the law.
